EDUCATION

1994: Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Department of Pharmacology, Ph.D. Dissertation entitled
"Comparison of Characteristics of Bovine Aromatic L-Amino Acid Decarboxylase with
Human Enzyme, and Expression of Mouse Tyrosin Hydroxylase Gene in E. Coli", accepted
by the Nagoya University, Nagoya, Japan.

1984: M.Sc. (Thesis) in Biochemistry (secured First-Class), Department of Biochemistry. M.Sc.
Dissertation entitled "Profile of Glycosylated Hb Metabolites and Trace Elements and
Metabolism of 14C-Acetate in Diabetes Mellitus", accepted by the University of Dhaka,
Bangladesh, (July 12, 1983).

1982: B.Sc.(Hons.) in Biochemistry (secured First-Class), Department of Biochemistry,
University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.

EXPERIENCE

1985-1986 Research Associate: Experience include determination of serum profile of trace elements in
patients with diabetes mellitus.

1986-1994 Lecturer: Experience in teaching various courses for the B.Sc. (Honours) such as
Carbohydrate Chemistry and Nutrition in 1st year level and also acted as co-supervisor for various
research studies.

1990-1994 Ph.D. Student: Research experience involve Construction of mouse tyrosine hudroxylase
synthesizing gene and expressed it in E.coli. Other technical experiences gained throughout
the course of study include PCR techniques for amplifying DNA, genomic cloning, Southern
and Northern blot hybridization, DNA-sequencing, Sequencing data manipulation by
software system, preparation of nuclear protein, Gel retardation assay, Dnase foot printing
assay and preparation of fusion protein, etc. During the course of Ph.D program and good
exposure in the field of Neurobiology.

1994-1998 Assistant Professor and Associate Professor: Experience include teaching for the 3rd year B.Sc (Honours) and M.Sc. Students, Molecular Biology. Also, supervision of M.Sc. Students Research Project as part of M.Sc. Thesis. The research projects include 'determination and characterization of the pattern of plasmids of shigella (1994-1995)'; 'Riobotyping of hafnia alvei by PCR for their epidemiological study and screening of hafnia alvei for the presence of attaching effacing (eae) gene (1995-1996)"; 'Detection of DNA of shigella from the blood using P.C.R technique (1997-1998)'.

1998-1999 Post-Doctoral Fellow: Research activities involve Purification of non-specific N-methyl
Transferase and cDNA cloning, Expression and Biochemical characterization. Other research
activities include some work in the area of Neurobiology.

2002(March-June)Attend workshop in Uppsala University, Sweden on IT and Global Nutrition.

1999-2003 Associate Professor & Professor: Experience including teaching for the 4th year B.Sc(Hons.) and M.Sc students.
Molecular Biology, Oncology and Nutritional molecular Biology. Also supervision of
M.Phil students and Research Associates as part of Research Project. The Research projects
include:

(1) Establishment of Improve Diagnostic Method for the detection of Dengue infection in
Bangladesh.

(2) Genetic of type 2 diabetes (NIDDM) in Bangladesh with candidate genes.

(3) Purification on N-methyl transferase from rat tissue and characterize enzymatic properties and clone its cDNA.
